Cactus Restaurant on West Seattle’s Alkai Beach

West Seattle's Cactus Restaurant

One of West Seattle's favorite restaurants, The "Cactus", on Alkai.

For new West Seattleites residents, Alki Beach can be a double edged sword.  Having Seattle’s most popular beach in our backyard is wonderful but it’s not uncommon to hear locals say “I stay away from Alki during the summer months”.  West Seattle is a peninsula, so we’re not used to people passing through.  That is, until the first summer weekend.  The line of cars on Alki Ave can back up all the way back to the bridge.

I cannot blame anyone for wanting to spend their Saturday lounging on our beach.  It’s beautiful!  Cute shops, great restaurants, people-watching for days, and the sunset view over the Olympic Mountains is stunning.  Whether you’re a West Seattle lifer, or visiting from another neighborhood, you should certainly check out at Cactus.

The reasons to go to any restaurant are always the same… the food, the service, and the value.  Cactus has it all!  It’s consistent in providing great food by friendly people at a decent price.  Simple as that!

Reasons to go:

  • Great Happy Hour
    • Between 3-6pm (3-5pm on weekends)
    • I get the Spicy Caesar Salad add chicken and the Street Tacos.
  • Surprisingly good brunch on weekends
    • ‚ÄčThe Chicken Fried Chicken is ridiculously tasty.
  • Great Service
    • Fonzie and Jackson at the bar (along with others) and Mike and Stella in the cocktail lounge ALWAYS do a great job.

Reasons to wait until Winter:

  • Parking
  • Wait time

My wife and I eat at Cactus an embarrassing amount of times every week.  Since we live down the street, the walk to one of our favorite restaurants is a breeze.  There are certainly some restaurants on the strip to stay away from, Cactus is not one of them.  See you there!
